The State of Framework Tools — June 2026

The Sigmon Team2 min read

We ran Sigmon's live detection across the 14 most-tracked framework tools and pulled their public footprint — GitHub stars and npm weekly downloads, and how many of our 27 signal sources each one exposes. Here's where framework stands as of June 2026.

Methodology: every figure is a live public signal — GitHub stars and npm weekly downloads — detected at publish time (2026-06-15). No private data, no scraping behind logins. "Signal sources" counts how many of Sigmon's public trackable sources apply to each tool. Tools with no detectable public footprint are omitted rather than guessed.

Who leads where

  • Most starred: Next.js — 140.0k GitHub stars
  • Most npm adoption: TanStack Query — 58.5M downloads/week
  • Widest signal surface: Next.js — 27 of 27 trackable sources

The take

Stars and adoption diverge sharply here. Hono (31k stars) and TanStack Query (49.8k) each pull more weekly npm installs than Next.js — 44.8M and 58.5M against its 37.9M — despite a fraction of the GitHub visibility; both are drop-in libraries you add to a project without ever starring. The headline frameworks rank far lower on downloads-per-star: Next.js 271x, Vue 255x, Svelte 55x, Remix 24x. Installs concentrate hard at the top — the three biggest (TanStack Query, Hono, Next.js) are ~72% of all weekly downloads — while Qwik barely registers at ~30k/week.
